Howe Park Wood is a piece of the past in the middle of Britain's newest city. As well as being home to a wide variety of wildlife, Howe Park boasts more than 200 plant species, some so rare that English Nature has designated it a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its wildlife value. Howe Park Wood is a lovely place to take young children for a walk. It's accessible for buggies although like most woodlands can get muddy during wet weather. I walked my baby boy around the circuit in about 20 minutes although with a toddler would take longer. There's a good den building area and lots and lots of sticks to collect.
